QuestionHi,
An ultrasound I had showed a small subchorionic hemorrgage/hematoma at 8 weeks. At 10 weeks I had a massive bleed and have had intermittent periods of bleeding since. Some days it is spotting, some days brown blood, some days bright red blood and have had 5 massive bleeds. I am now 18 weeks and have been monitored with ultrasounds since the discovery. Today the doctor said the placenta is starting to pull away, she said the subchorionic hemorrhage is 9 cm. She is sending me to another doctor in Toronto who specializes in this condition but until i see him/her I will be very concerned.
She said the baby is otherwise healthy and has a strong fetal heart beat and I can feel the movements. I am 25 and this is my second child.
What are my chances my baby will be ok?
What can you tell me about these conditions?
Thank you,
Carrie
AnswerDear Carrie
It is a tough situation. The only lines of treatment in this situation provided that you do not have any of the bleeding Dyscrasias (e.g. hemophilia, lack of any of the clotting factors in blood)or hypertension, are bed rest, avoidance of household activities, all forms of sex and exercise. With this simple things, usually clot gets smaller gradually until they disappear.
If you have done this and you do not have any of the diseases described above, a thorough clinical examination with some lab investigations would be necessyar for proper diagnosis that is best to be done after consultation with a maternal fetal medicine specialist.
Good Luck
