hello doctor i am really short of time for ECP. u presecribed Plan B as ECPbut my chemist gave me levonorgestrel 0.75 mg and according to him it is second name of PLAN B.when i read its dosage and administration it was written that"according to latest WHO guidlines single dosage regime of 2tablets of .75mg levenorgestrel at once within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse simplifies the use of levonorgestrel for emergency contraception without increase in side effects"" while when i read about it on net it was suggested that one tablet of it should be taken orally within 72hours the second tablet should be taken 12 hours after the first dose"" so doctor what is ur opinion should i take both at once or 12 hours apart plz reply me in emergency as i am going out of time i will be really obliged, thank u.
Answer -
I still use the official recommendationi of one tablet within 72 hours and again 12 hours later. Preven (another EC) is two tablets within 72 hours and again 12 hours later. You must take these within the 72 hours period or they will not be effective. If you do not get your period two weeks later, take a pregnancy test. If you develop nausea or vomiting, call your doctor.
AnswerThere are usually no complications or side effects of the Preven or Plan B. However, use can cause nausea and vomiting in some women. Usually, I prescribe Zofran to my patients just in case there is any nausea or vomiting. If you develop nausea or vomiting, I suggest that you call your doctor and get something to relieve the discomfort. If you have no side effects, you do not need to call your doctor.
