Ultrasound & Early Pregnancy Symptoms: Conception Timing & Signs

Hello Doctor, I have a question I was hoping you could help me with. When an ultrasound is done would they know about when conception occured or only when the fetus actually implanted? Also, How soon after having intercourse can you experience pregnancy symptoms if you're pregnant? Do you get pregnancy symptoms sooner if you're having multiples?

Hi Rachel,

During an ultrasound the sonographer can predict when conception occurred by the size of the fetus. Pregnancy symptoms can occur as early as a 8 days after implantation. Pregnancy symptoms don't necessarily become sooner with multiples but they do intensify.
