Question
My husband(25) and I(21)are trying to Concieve. My last period started Dec. 12. this means I ovulated about the  dec. 25th. But Lately I have experienced Nausa, Very tired all the time, and I have Pain on my left side around my pelvic area. I took a Preg. test and it Was Neg. Which I expected because of the short timeline. I just want to know if I should wait until after my period comes or doesn't come to go to the doctor, Or could this pain on my left side be a sign of pregnancy and not to worry unless my period comes? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question, This will be our first child, so we are both nervous.

Answer
Certainly, if you have a persistent pain on one side of your abdomen or the other, you should consult a doctor. If yuou have not missed a period, it is doubtful that you are pregnant. The earliest symptoms of pregnancy are breast tenderness, fatigue, and nausea. However, a pain on one side of the abdomen or the other can indicatea possible ectopic pregnancy (tubal pregnancy) if you have missed your period and have a positive pregnancy test. If your last period started on December 12, you did, indeed, ovulate around December 25 and could have conceived if you had sex on Decembeer 24,25,26, or 27. If you did become pregnant at that time, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. You are due for your period on January 8, so it you do not get your period by January 15, take a pegnancy test. If you continue to have pain on the left side of your abdomen, check it out with your doctor. Perhaps a sonogram will aid. Perhaps you have an ovarian cyst.
