QuestionI'm twenty-seven and I don't have any children the day of my last menstrual cycle was december sixth of last year, my cycle is regular and expected cycle date was January 2nd, 2006.
I assumed I was pregnant because my menstrual cycle hadn't come. Then on the sixth I started spotting along with cramping. Now, I'm still spotting and having the cramps but unlike past experiences with my period it is not heavy. Can I still be pregnant, or is there another explanation?
AnswerIf your last period started on December 6, you would have ovulated around December 19 and could have conceived if you had sex on December 18,19,20, or 21. If you did become pregnant at that time, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. You were due for your period on January 2, so you should take a pregnancy test is you do not get your period by January 9. The spotting and cramping may or may not be the start of your period. If you do not get a regular period by Monday, take a pregnancy test and you will know for sure.
