On November 10, I had a D&C. I than didn't start my period for a while I thought I was pregnant. But I took a test, it was negative. Than Dec. 25 I started my period. It was very heavy, and hurt very much. It lasted for about 4-5days all days were heavy. Than about a week later my period started again. It is still heavy and I'm really tiered and shakey. I even feel dizzy. What is wrong? Does this have to do with my D&C?
Answer -
If you had a period on December 25 for 5 days and then started bleeding heavily a week later, that is abnormal and must be evaluated, especially if you are dizzy. YOu may have lost too much blood and have become anemic. I would suggest that you call your gynecologist and find out what is going on. YOu may need a sonogram to assess whether there is anything left in your uterus.
Ok I have a follow up question. "whether there is anything left?" Like what? Like maybe the first time they didn't get everything like they were suppose to?
AnswerDuring a D&C for a miscarriage or an abortion, we try to remove all the products of conception that may be in the uterus. When women have prolonged bleeding after a D&C, it could be due to "retained products of conception", and another D&C may have to be performed to remove them. Sometimes, the uterus does not contract down after a D&C and that can cause bleeding. There are medications to control that. I would suggest calling your gynecologist.
