Delayed Period & Fertility Concerns: What Could Be the Cause?

Hi I have a question about my periods as i have not had one since 21st Feb 2010.
I do have a 1 year old child and wish to try for another but am unable to fall pregnant as my Dr tells me that i am stuck in the luteral phase? there for not having any periods and not being able to chart my cycle. I do however have a history of ovarian cysts but have not had any for 10 years, i have also had an internal ultrasound in April and everything was clear including my uterus which did have a c section for my first baby.My Dr has told me to go on the pill but that is not a suitable fix. can you please give me any advice as to what the problem could be and what may help me get my cycle back?

Since you have not mentioned your age, i assume your are in your 20s or 30s.
If you are breastfeeding, then it is quite normal not to have a period. However, if not, then this is a case of secondary amenorrhea. There are several steps that should be done in a specific sequence usually starts by confirming that your thyroid functions are normal.
I would advise you to seek a detailed examination with another ob/gyn to follow the workup of a case of 2ry amenorrhea.
