Post-Period Symptoms: Headache, Abdominal Pain & Unusual Discharge - Seeking Information
QuestionYes I just ended my period 2 days ago and it was lengthy for me. I have EXTREMELY painful and debalitating periods. But since I got off this last one I've had a horrible headache and severe pain in my lower left quadrant, accompanied by nausea. Just a couple hours ago I went to use the restroom, I wiped and there was a brownish-red discharge, with a moderate odor. This is something I've never had before. i go for a pre-op appt in a couple weeks for an exploratory laproscopy, to search for endometriosis. Should I just wait and tell them at that appt or is it something I should address now. I am twenty years old and have never had unprotected sex. Plus with all the issues I've had over time I've had numerous std checks and all are negative. I don't have any vaginal itching. IF you have any insight I would appreciate it.
AnswerDear Laura,
Well, you have addresses my initial concerns already... good for you! It sounds like you are having a terrible time with either - as it sounds like your doctor suspects - endometriosis, and/or a significant hormonal imbalance. The symptoms you describe tend to go hand in hand with an imbalance of those hormones. If it were me, I'd call, report the symptoms, and ask if your doctor thinks hormone therapy might relieve some of the symptoms for you (if you aren't on them already). It certainly can't hurt.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
