Beta HCG Levels & Early Pregnancy Concerns: What to Know

Question
27years old, no children, Jan 17 06 LMP

I have been experiencing some cramping and spotting for 3-4 days and my beta hcg levels were the same on wed (3-1) and today (3-3).  Do you think I have or may be miscarrying?  Should I be on bedrest?

Answer
If your last period started on January 17, you whould now be 6 weeks 3 days pregnant and a sonogram should demonstrate a fetus and a fetal heartbeat. If you have had some spotting and your Beta HCG has not risen in 48 hours (from March 1-3), get a sonogram. If you see a fetal heartbeat, it is reassuring. If you start ot have heavy bleeding with cramps, you may be starting to have a miscarriage. Discuss it with your doctor.
