QuestionI am a 22 year old (one month until 23) with a normal 30 day cycle. My last period was on September 14. Two days ago, I noticed it was pink when I was wiping and assumed I was finally getting my period. It has varied everytime I've gone to the bathroom since then. Sometimes it is just pink, sometimes there's nothing at all, and only a couple of times has it been red. The last pregnancy I took was 2 weeks ago, and every test I have taken has given me a negative response. I thought I had just missed ovulation, but now I'm having this "period" and don't know what to think. Thanks for your help =)
AnswerDear Jennifer,
If your last "normal" period was on 9/14, then that means that this will be the 2nd period missed. I assume, since you didn't mention it, that this has never happened to you before. If this "bleeding" has not been enough to use a tampon or pad, then I don't think I'd consider it a period.
Have you experienced any other symptoms of early pregnancy? (tender/swollen breasts, fatigue, nausea, backache) If so, then I'd ask if you used 1st morning urine when you used the HPTs. That would give you the most concentrated sample and most accurate result.
Many things can cause delayed or missed periods, including stress, weight gain/loss, extreme or strenuous exercise, etc,... Typically, I recommend women should contact their doctor if 3 periods are missed to try to determine the cause. I would not wait longer than that.
I hope I've helped answer your question and I wish you well!
