Oversized Yolk Sac at 8 Weeks: Potential Concerns & What to Expect

Question
Im 8 wks according to date of conception and LMP, however the U/S tech said my sac looked like 6 1/2 wks. Not the reason Im writing but Thursday afternoon I started spotting a little bit (very minimal). no cramping either. I went to the military hosp (hubby is army)and the midwife did a transvaginal and a pelvic. The speculum had blood on it but it was more like mucous tinged w/ blood. She said my yolk sac was twice its size and flattened. Said i'd pry start bleeding heavier nad cramping like a bad period and i'd lose the baby over the weekend. I left the hospital and didn't have the 1st cramp or spot of blood. I went back this morning and they sent me to see an U/S tech. She said she couldn't be sure but she saw cardiac activity and a fetal pole. Said she wasn't ruling out miscarriage right now without seeing what was done on Friday. She did say my sac was still larger than the embryo but today  it was round vs. oblong like friday. I also recieved a call thismorning from the midwife telling me my bloodwork confirmed i'd lose the baby and to come in for a followup. I talked to a doctor today and she said my levels were above 14000 (?) and that was still good. Said they'd call me back today with the results from this morning and compare Friday's with todays. I have not heard anythng back yet. Can you offer me any insight on an oversized yolk sac without cramping or bleeding?

Answer
This really isn't my main area of expertise, but nothing you have told me makes me particularly worried that you have an impending miscarriage on your hands. At this point, you need a careful evaluation of all the facts by your doctor - and nobody else but him/her.

Early in pregnancy like this, yolk sacs can look a little strange while the pregnancy is perfectly fine.

Just have your doctor review everything and then discuss.
