QuestionI am 35 years old and have one daughter age 3 1/2, my last mp was 3/23/06, I ALWAYS have a 26-28 day cycle so next mp is due between 4/17-4/19. I got a positive hpt on Sunday 4/16/06 (am and pm) and also again today 4/18, had a blood test done on Monday 4/17 with an hcg level of 44, my MD thinks its iffy, said it could be a SURGE, wasn't sure what that meant...what is your opinion? I am retesting blood level next Monday 4/24. I have many preg symptoms, nauseous, tender breasts, heartburn, fatigue.
I also had a 5 week m/c - chemical preg in late February...
AnswerIf your last period started on March 23, and you have a 26-28 day cycle, you probably ovulated on April 5 and could have conceived if you had sex on April 4,5,6, or7. If you did become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnanc test will not show a positive result for 14-21 days. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. You are due for your next period on April 19. Therefore, the best time to take a pregnancy test is after April 25. A Beta HCG level of 44 is quite low, but it should start doubling every 48 hours.
