QuestionI was inseminated on 10/23, and today is 11/12. My pregnancy test showed up positive, so I went in for an Hcg test. The first test showed a 59. The second test, two days later, showed a 47. My progesterone is also low (8.2).
Does this mean that this pregnancy is going to fail? From what I have read, a healthy pregnancy is against the odds.
Last time I was pregnant, around the same timeline, Hcg did not even show that I was pregnant; however, I was pregnant with twins that grew normally.
I am scheduled for another test. What are the odds that my Hcg may go back up, and the pregnancy progress normally?
AnswerThere is always a chance that the pregnancy is viable, since the test may have been taken too early. See what two Beta HCG tests (taken 48 hours apart) reveal next week. Usually, when you reach a threshhold, there will be doubling of HCG in 48 hours. However, if there is further drop int he HCG values, it does not bode well for a viable gestation. You should also probably take some supplementation of progesterone.
