Early Pregnancy Symptoms & Testing: What to Expect After Possible Conception

Question
I have a 7 month old baby and am breastfeeding, my periods are not regular as yet ( i have had 2 since my baby's birth).  So I am not going by missed periods, but I think I may be pregnant.  The night in question was 11 days ago and I am now tired, sick to my stomach, constipated, and peeing more than normal.  I took a pregnancy test this morning and it read negative.  It was only one night that it could have happened, how soon after can you test and get an accurate reading?  I am only finding answers according to when my period should be.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Mallory,

You should test yourself at home roughly 14 days after conception.  If you want an answer sooner, you can go to a doctor and get a blood test which will show a positive result about 7 days after conception.  You may however, need to wait longer than that to get an appointment.

Best of luck to you, and please email me again with any further questions or concerns.
