QuestionDear Doctor,
The last date mrs. samant had her menstural priod was on 18th day of jan 2006.
in the routine consultation during her pregnancy with her medical mentor she was suggested that she might be deveoloping cyst , but in the ultrasound level II after 18th week of pregnancy , it was observed and reported by the radiologist that 11.8 * 11.4 cms subserosal fibroid is seen projecting from left uterine lateraly. Otherwise through the report rest all developments of the fetus were found to be normal.
Now i would like to seek your advice on following...
1) how long this fibroid can grow
2) what are the adverse affects
3) can you plz. suggest us on delivery, would that be a normal or a through the operation?
4)what are the chances of blood loss during the pregnancy
5) what may be the affect on the baby in the fetus?
6) what all precautions you may suggest to us?
We would really be thankful to you to receive your advice in time.
regards
AnswerIf the fibrids grow larger, they can possibly interfere with the passage of the baby down the birth canal. If the fetus is obstructed, you will deliver by cesarean section.Other than that, the only other problem willl be the possibility of bleeding. Until the baby is term size, your doctors will keep up with the bleeding and replace any lost blood. Once the baby has reached term, it will be delivered (either by cesarean section, or vaginal delivery. If the fibroid is not obstructing the fetus, the baby can deliver vaginally. There should not be any effect on the fetus at all. At the delivery, I would not try to remove the fibroid. Just take serial sonograms and watch for any bleeding. Good Luck.
