Understanding Low Progesterone Levels & Pregnancy Risk
QuestionI am 24 and I have 2 living children. I have had 3 miscarriages and I am mow pregnant again. I just had labs drawn and the results showed i had a "normal low" progestrone level. What does this mean and is it something I should be concerned about having another miscarriage or is it possible to carry full term with this level.
AnswerHi Haley,
You are at a higher risk for miscarriage if you progesterone is low. In your case, even if it is "normal low", I would suggest that you be put on some progesterone to help you sustain this pregnancy, especially with your history of miscarriage. It won't hurt anything, it can only help you. You only have to take the progesterone through 12-16 weeks of pregnancy. After that, it has done all it can do. Your body should be able to sustain the pregnancy on its own from then on. I hope this helps! Good luck!
