Post-Laparoscopy Amenorrhea: Understanding Delayed Periods After Lupron

Question
Hi! I had laparoscopy last june after taking 3 injections of luprolex. After a month my doc gave me progestin for 7days after having no period. My ultrasound is just fine. Now its almost 2 months and i still don't have any period. Is this normal after having laparoscopy?Im 30yrs and no child

Answer
Hi Myla,

what did you have the laparascopy for? Was it  to remove a cyst?

The luprolex suppresses your hormones to very low levels similar  to menopause. I had to take Lupron shots for a month before the egg transfer  for the surrogate baby I carried; it shuts hormones down.  I think this is why your period is not here, and it does not sound like the progestin helped you to get it either.

I dont think it has anything to do with the laparascopy; but rather, the luprolex. Can you get your doctor to try another medicine to help bring your regular cycle back?

Good luck, I hope things turn out OK. I assume you did the surgery to remove something that was affecting fertility?
