Irregular Periods & Fertility: Understanding Delayed Conception

Question
Iam 24 years old I have son who will be 3years old in September. I have always had irregular periods! My husband and I were not trying to get pregnant when we found out about Tyler. Now we are trying to have another child and we are not getting any where. I went to my ObGyn and he put me on provera to help get my period started back after not having one for three months. I had a normal cycle after completing the prescription of provera in April. I also had a normal cycle in May ,then my cycle was long it last 34 days from the May period until the June. I returned to my ObGyn who gave me prescription for Clomid but I have yet to start my period so I can start the clomid. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 15 months with no luck I was really hoping for the clomid to help but I am not sure what to do, If I don't have a period I cant start the Med. Should I get another prescription of provera to have a period then start the clomid? What is you opinion on my problem?
Thank you in advance for your time!

Answer
Dear Kelly,

Since the Provera worked to regulate your periods pretty well for three months following the first course of treatment, I would be inclined to think that it would be a good option again in combination with the Clomid. However, you will need to contact the same OB that ordered the Clomid to check for sure. Make sure you are getting the meds from the same doctor. In these situations, one hand absolutely has to know what the other is doing - so to speak.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
