Irregular Periods & Fertility: Can You Get Pregnant?
QuestionMy husband and I have been trying to concieve again for about 4 months now. We already have one daughter and I have another son from a past relationship.
I havn't had a regular cycle since January. My current period is 2 months late, and the period before that was 96 days late. This problem with my cycle is very new as I used to get my period every 35 days since I was a teen. (I'm now 25)
Is it possible to get pregnant with an irregular period? Could I even be ovulating? And could you suggest reasons as to why my period has suddenly taken a weird turn?
AnswerHi Nikki,
Sometimes, a women's body changes after pregnancy. You could have a common condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome causing you not to ovulate, and therefore not able to conceive or have a regular period. You may need some Clomid to help you ovulate. You should see your OB/GYN for an exam and a transvaginal ultrasound so they can see better what is going on. Keep in mind, it can take normal healthy couples a full year to conceive. However, if you aren't having a period, you probably aren't ovulating either. Good luck and I hope this helps!
