Healthy Weight Gain & Body Image After 25: A Discussion

Question
Wow!  You definitely sound like the right person to discuss my concerns with!  I'm sure you've seen/heard about it all!
I just turned 25 and consider myself to be a very healthy young woman, but I am wanting to gain a bit of weight.  I have a slight build (weighing 115 lbs., measuring 34-26-34), and am wanting to get back some of my more womanly curves that I had prior to becoming so lean and toned.  I would say I probably consume 1500-2000 calories a day and exercise regularly (jog for 1.5 hours twice a week, rollerblade 9 miles twice a week, lift 8 lb. free weights once a week, and do various toning exercises such as crunches and lunges several times a week).  My main concern is that the weight I put on not be in undesirable locations, namely my midsection.
As I sometimes have irregular periods, and want to put on some curves, I have been advised to check into birth control.  Apparently these pills cause most women to gain weight almost solely in their breasts and hips.  Is this true?  Do you see this as a wise choice for me?  Can you think of other options that might be better?
I am grateful to have found you and look forward to seeing what you think about all of this.  Thanks so much!
