Question I'm 41 years old and I'm six weeks pregnant. We been trying to conceive for about a year. They tested for my hgc levels(beta). The first draw was 1500-1750. 2 day later it was up to 4800. Is it possible it could be twins!
AnswerHI Louann,
Congratulations! You must be on cloud nine. Your beta numbers are good and strong!
Twins? Anything is possible... it IS a bit on the higher side, but it isnt astronomically high... I'd bet one baby , but again, you could definitely have two in there. I have seen beta numbers on the low side that were twins, and with my own two children, my betas were so high the doctors immediately said TWINS, but there was just one baby. The funny thing is, with the surrogate pregnancy, I WAS implanted with twins, and the beta numbers were normal but lower than my usual, and there was one baby that grew.
So, it is impossible to tell from numbers alone... anything is definitely possible. Again my bet is one baby, but you could VERY well have twins in there. I am excited for you!
My favorite baby saying: A baby is proof of God's faith in the future of humankind.
good luck! Let me know when you find out how many you've got growing :-) I am assuming you will be having an ultrasound soon.
