Question""Hi, My last period was on July 9th and it is now Sep. 3rd and still
no period. I was suppose to start on Aug. 2nd or 3rd. My menstrual is
24 days. Sometimes my period are irregular, but not this bad. Two
weeks
after I had missed my period,I had very light pink spotting, but only
when I wiped and that only lasted for half a day. The next week same
thing with a little light brown mixed in. That also only lasted a day.
Both days wasn't even enough to wear anything cause it was just when I
wiped. Well about a couple of days ago, I had A little bit darker brown
and red and that only lasted a day. The next day light brown again and
that was it. Everything has gone away. I have taken 3 home pregnancy
test in which all have been negative. Went to the doctor and she did a
urine test which also came out negative. She said for me to come back
in 2
weeks, Am I wasting my time or do you think that there is indeed a
chance that I could be pregnant? Me and my husband have not used
protection in like 2 years cause we are trying to conceive. I don't
know whats
going on with my period. Its just not normal. Could there be something
wrong with me or could it be pregnancy thats just not coming up in the
urine test? Help""
AnswerHi Valerie,
Given that your period is very overdue, You would think by now that if prengnancy is what is causing this, it would have definatly been showing a positive results when you did your pregnancy tests.
However ..
I have seen it far to many times, where ladies have taken several tests, they have come back negative, when indeed, they were pregnant. It does happen ..and its not uncommon.
Your bleeding, could be implantation spotting. Again, what you explained sounds like the common symptoms of that. Brown blood, indicates old blood ..and that can be related as well to the implantation process.
Also, its not uncommon for women to spot here and there within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
So yes, its possible you could be pregnant, and perhaps your HCG levels, are just to low at this point to give you a positive reading.
The only way to be completely accurate on this, is to visit your physician again, and ask for a Beta HCG blood test. This blood test is extremely accurate in measuring that amount of the pregnancy hormone to indicate if you are pregnant or not.
Definately go back to your doctor in the 2 week time frame, as she advised. She will repeat a urine test again I am sure, but also ask her for the blood test as well.
If the blood work comes back negative, then you can be assured you are not pregnant. And if that is the case, then most likely this is caused from something simple, like a hormonal imbalance ..or something along that nature.
I dont think there is anything seriously wrong with you ..You could possibly be pregnant ..or your period is delayed due to hormonal imbalance, stress ..or it just could be very late and irregular.
Hope this is of some help ..But definatly investigate the possibility of pregnancy ..
All the best.
