Fetal Lung Maturity at 35-36 Weeks: Risks & Odds

Question
I am 33 1/2 weeks pregnant, 35 years old.  I have two healthy boys at home and lost a daughter to massive fetal maternal hemorrhage in my 35th week last year.  My OB is debating with my high risk doctor about doing an amnio for fetal lung development at 35-36 weeks and if the lungs are ok then to just induce.  My question is what are the odds that the baby's lungs will be developed at 35 or 36 weeks?  Also what risk is involved in an amnio.  I was told that there really isn't much of a risk in the third trimeter, but I have read differently.  My other option is to just wait until 37 1/2 weeks and being induced without an amnio.  Any statitics  and/or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
The baby's lungs will probably be mature enough to survive in the outside world after 36 weeks gestational age, if you know the date of your last period and are sure of your gestational age. If you have any doubts, an amnio will let you know. Usually, you can be induced after 36 weeks without an amnio. If you can wait until 37 weeks, there should be no problem with the lungs.
