Roseola, Pregnancy & HHV-6: What You Need to Know

Question
I'm looking for some answers about Roseola. I'm planning to get pregnant within couple months. But my ten month daughter just got Roseola last week. Since I'm exposed to the HHV-6 virus too, I don't know if I should wait for couple months before I try to get pregnant. May HHV-6 stay in my body and cause any bith defect if I get pregnant now?

And I also caught cold two weeks ago and took some medicine. Should I wait for couple months because of that?

Thank you.

Yu

Answer
Hi Yu,
wait about 6mo to get pregnant for your immunity to build up from the roseola. During this time you may have a breakout and if so you will not be pregnant. As for the meds as soon as you stop them they will be out of your body, so really a day or two after will suffice.
