Safe Dieting During Pregnancy: A Guide for Expectant Mothers

Question
I'm 5'8" and 175 lbs. I just lost 15 lbs and would like to lose more. This month, my husband and I decided to try to get pg. Can I keep on with my diet even if I get pregnant? I've heard the baby takes what it needs first, no matter how much the mom eats. Here's my diet that has been working so well for me: B-fast, lunch, and dinner are each Slim-fast meals, unless we go out for dinner, then I eat a salad or something sensible. Morn snack is a granola bar, aft snack is a double serving of veggies (not corn), and bedtime snack is a fruit smoothie (OJ, froz bananas and strawberries in the blender). Plus I take a vitamin every day. It's very nutritious, but not a lot of calories (around 1150 cal). I'd like to keep it up if and when I do get pregnant, but only if it's not harmful to the baby. Any input would be helpful.
Thank-you very much for your time!

Answer
Hi Kay,
I would try and lose the weight for a healthier pregnancy before you get pregnant, then go see a nutritionist and see will help you get all the nutrients healthy for you, your build and the baby. Dieting is really not good in any form during pregnancy.
