QuestionI had sex 4 days before my ovulation date. no condom, no birth control. i am now 4 days into my missed period. i have no breast tenderness, no morning sickness, no nausea. nothing of the sort. no frequent urination. but i missed my period. ive been on a diet, lately. would that affect a missed period? when is the best time for a pregnancy test?(morning night noon) can i finaly quit worrying if it says no? please. thank you.
AnswerDear Beth,
The best time for you to take a pregnancy test, in my opinion, is to wait until after the full week of a missed period. So I would recommend you wait until next week and then test using 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample which has been in the bladder for at least 4-5 hours.
If the test is negative, and you continue to have no symptoms of early pregnancy, then it is probably negative. However, some women do not have high enough hCG levels early in pregnancy for a pregnancy test to pick it up until up to 6 weeks after the LMP.
A change in diet, weight gain or loss, excessive or strenuous exercise, stress, thyroid dysfunction - all of these things things can affect menstrual cycles. But knowing you had unprotected sex so close to your ovulation date puts you at risk for pregnancy, so you do need to test to make sure.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your questions. I wish you well.
