Faint Positive Pregnancy Test: What Does It Mean? - Health & Concerns

Question
I have been trying to concieve for months now. I got my last menstrual on 3/13 or 14th I wasnt due for my period until the 11th, but out of curiosity I took an ept test this afternoon. It came up a faint positive. So I took first response this evening, and another faint positive. Could I pregnant regardless of the lightness of the line. I took a diet pill called rapid slim around a week ago, could that have caused harm to the baby? Ive been on prenatal vitamins since the middle of March, could that have given me a better chance of concieving?

Answer
Dear Lena,

The best time to take a HPT is upon waking with 1st morning urine. That is when you will get a concentrated sample and the most accurate results.

As for the Rapid Slim, if you only took one, the risk is very low, if any at all. The ingredients are essentially green teas, the equivalent of about 2 and 1/2 cups of coffee, a minute amount of hoodia, and white willow extract - which is really the only thing you'd have any concern about because it is from the aspirin family. I just would not recommend continuing use.

Many women have found increased fertility results when they take vitamins, prenatal or other multivitamins, while trying to conceive. Fertility is definitely increased the more healthy women are. It may have made a difference for you.

If the lines were faint when testing in the afternoon and evening AND before a period has been missed, try waiting a few days and testing with 1st morning urine. The test results should be more conclusive.

I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and a Happy Easter.
