QuestionUp until about Febuary I had regular periods while taking Mircette. In Febuary my provider switched me to Microgestin, which I took for two cycles and never missed a pill, and also never had a period. I had several bad side effects, depression, tender breasts, and most importantly no period. It is now May and I quit taking it last cycle and still have had no period. I've taken a few pregnancy tests, all of which have been negative. I've never had a problem getting my period, but it concerns me that I haven't had a period since Feb. 9.
My partner and I have decided we would like to concieve, but I suppose since I haven't had a period I mostly likely have not ovulated either. I'm worried and not sure what to make of it. Should I just wait and see if it comes or can my doctor give me something to force my period assuming I'm not pregnant? Your help would be much appreciated.
AnswerDear Elly,
Yes, your doctor can give you medication to induce a period. Just give him/her a call and explain the circumstances and it shouldn't be a problem. They may want to check hormone levels as well. You may or may not ovulate now that you are off all BCPs, depending on the cause for not having a period for you. The BCP would have been suppressing ovulation before.
Hope that helped you and answers your question. I wish you well.
