AnswerDear Vanessa,
Occasionally a woman can still get pregnant, despite having had her tubes tied properly. The tubes can evolve in such a way as to try to heal themselves, and sometimes a tract develops that allows egg and sperm to meet. Tubal ligation, regardless of whether the tubes are cut, burned, clipped, banded, or tied, is about 99% effective, meaning that about 1% of women will conceive an unplanned pregnancy after tubal ligation.
So, though not impossible, the chances are very low that you have conceived. It is more likely that you are having ovarian pain for one reason or another. It may be that there is some scar tissue there from the procedure that is causing the discomfort.
However, in order to be completely sure, you should take a pregnancy test. Make sure you use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results. If it is negative, then go ahead and wait to see what the next period brings. If it is again very spotty and you experience the pain and this concerns you, you can see your doctor to be evaluated as to the cause.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your questions. I wish you well.
