Pelvic Floor Weakness & Bladder Pressure: Causes & Solutions
QuestionHi, I don't know if you can answer this, I've noticed when i go to the gym or jog for months i noticed i get some bladder pressure that lingers for a few months. I've been to the doctors and do not have any infections. It doesn't wake me up at night. I'm fine in the morning but start getting bladder pressure gradually through out the day. It when away the first time and since i started jogging it's back. All the doctor told me to do are kegel exercises..is this because i have weak pelvic floor muscles? how do i correct this and will it get worst if i were to get pregnant?
AnswerHi - Kegel exercises help to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and will help to avoid incontinence, cysts, hemorrhoids during your pregnancy and postpartum. I am uncertain about the exercise/bladder discomfort connection. There is a chance that your posture is at fault, and misalignment leads to extra-pressure on internal organs. It is hard to say without a physical assessment. I have not seen similar symptoms in my clients and did not read about it so far. I will give it some thought and will let you know if I come up with more ideas. Meanwhile I suggest that you follow the doctor's advice and do Kegels; I also recommend changing your cardiovascular activity. Try a recumbent bike, rowing or swimming and see how it feels. Good luck!
