Lactation Before Period: Possible Pregnancy & PCOS Concerns

Question
For the month of Nov. I did not get my menstrual cycle but i did get it again on DEC 30th.  The last time i had relations with my husband was on Jan. 5th or 6th.   We have been trying to get pregnant for a while but it has been difficult because I have polycystic ovarian decease.  But while i was taking a shower i saw that one of my breast was lactating.  I was just wondering if that could mean that i am pregnant?  I have also been very sleepy, sick to my stomach and moody.

Answer
If you got your period on December 30, it is unlikely that you would have ovulated until January 13 and it is doubtful that you could have conceived only 5-6 days after you got your period. The earliest signs of pregnancy are breast tenderness, fatigue, and nausea so, if you do not get your next period, take a pregnancy test and you will know for sure. However, if you are not pregnant and still notice milk coming from your breast, you have to check out your Prolactin level. If the prolactin level is elevated, you then have to have imaging studies of your anterior pituitary gland in your brain to see why you are producing Prolactin. Your doctor will know what to do.
