Pregnancy After Weaning: Can You Get Pregnant Without a Period?
QuestionIs it possible to get pregnant without having a period since my last child was born? My daughter is just about 15 months old now i have weened her and still have not had a period. But lately I have had to go to the bathroom much more than normal and have been feeling a little nauseous. Could i be pregnant or not?
AnswerErin,
You can get pregnant even while you are breastfeeding. So, if you have weened your daughter, you are at a more increased risk to start ovulating again. Some women get there period while they are breastfeeding, some women don't. However, that doesn't mean that you didn't ovulate this month. On the flip-side, since you have weened your daughter recently, your body may still be trying to regulate itself. It is impossible to know without taking a pregnancy test. But, yes, there is as chance. I would take a HPT, if it comes out negative and you are still concerned, have your doctor send you for some bloodwork to confirm pregnancy. Hats off to you for nursing so long! That is amazing! Good luck and I hope this helps!
