QuestionHello Brenda,
I have a question. I am currently pregnant. I was with one guy ( my current bf) on CD 13-23. I was with my ex on CD 26. I have regular 32 day cycles. Anyways, all of the ultrasounds, HCG testing, etc, etc, point to my current partner. Here is where I am concerned. I have a 7 year old with my ex. Although we never tried again, there were no problems conceiving him. With my current partner, we have had two miscarriages. So, do you think that even though everything matches up to my current bf being the father, that he might not be because of my history of miscarriages with him? Thanks
AnswerDear Ashley,
As a rule, ovulation takes place approximately 14 days prior to the beginning of the next period. If you have a history of regular 32 day cycles, your typical ovulation day is likely around CD 18. Once ovulation has occurred, the egg will only survive up to 24 hours unless fertilized. So, conception on CD 26 would be highly unlikely. Because ultrasounds and hCG tests have also confirmed dating of the pregnancy for you, this would not be something I would be overly concerned about. Many women are completely monogamous and have two, three, four pregnancy losses - for whatever reason - before they finally have one that succeeds. Your eggs are seven years older than they were before, this IS a different partner and everything has to be just perfect when conception happens and a successful pregnancy occurs and is maintained to term. There are so many potential causes for the two previous miscarriages - lifestyle, stress, health, etc,... You just rarely know what the exact reason is.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
Brenda
