Understanding Potential Pregnancy: Timeline & Symptoms

Question
This is kinda weird for me.  I had unprotected sex with a man on July 14, 2007.  I had a period on July 26 or 27th that was only for one day and not very heavy, very light.  My periods usually last 4 to 6 days kinda heavy then they get lighter towards the end.  Then in August 2007 I started seeing another guy and we also had unprotected sex. I missed my period for August and took a pregnancy test and it was positive.  I went to my OBGYN on September 10, 2007 and they confirmed I was pregnant.  I told him about the irregular July period, so he did a sonogram.  When he did the sonogram he was not able to see anything.  I went back the next month and they did another sonogram and they saw the "baby".  I went in November and he was not able to hear the heartbeat, but was able to hear it in December and also did another sonogram and everything was normal.  I ended up switching to another Doctor for personal reasons.  In March the new Doctor did a 4D sonogram and the baby was not a normal size.  The sonogram said that I was not as far a long as I should be according to MLMP.  Anyways, they monitored the babys weight for the next 7 weeks.  My due date was May 1, 2008 and the Dr. said he would do a C-section on April 23, 2008.  I had a c-section on April 23, 2008 and the baby weighed 4lb 10oz  and 17 inches.  When they saw the placenta the umbilical cord was not where it should be.  They said that it should have been in the middle of the placenta but it was at the top.  Also the umbilical cord had started to calcify.  I had the baby at 39 weeks.  Is it at all possible that I could have become pregnant in July 2007.  I am caucasion and the man I was with in July was Hispanic.  The man I was seeing in August was black.  My baby is now 3 1/2 weeks old and is kinda olive complection on her face and pink everywhere else, straight brown hair and has no black features.  Again is it possible for her to have been conceived in July?

Answer
Dear Kristi,

Well, from everything you have shared, if a different conception date was suspected, it would be a LATER date (making the baby younger/smaller) not an earlier one (making the baby older/larger). The fact is, you will need to have a paternity test if you are that worried about it. Otherwise I would not be overly concerned at this time. The placental calcification and abnormally placed cord likely indicate that there was a bit of a nutritional deficiency while your baby was in utero. This would explain the small size for gestational age.

The physical features really mean very little at this point in time. In one year, you can start to look closer at physical features, but even then a baby can carry on the features of one parent more heavily than another OR those of three generations past more than the actual parent.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
