Conflicting Due Dates & Pregnancy Concerns: Seeking Medical Guidance
QuestionQUESTION: my ob says my dute date is Jan 17th my specialist that i am seeing due to diabetes says Jan 6th...my last peroid says DEC 9th.. my last period was march 4th,2010.......i ovulated in march and i know this because i have bad cramps during ovulation..the baby is already weighing 5 pounds which i know diabetes can make them weigh more...the baby has already started to drop and i am starting to have light contractions. the midwife at the Dr office is trying to tell me that i don't know when i ovulated and that i didn't ovulate until April...so which do i believe my period and when i know i ovulated or the Dr.
ANSWER: Well I think the key to this will be when and if you had an early ultrasound. How did your doctor's come up with those due dates? They are too far apart and doesn't make much sense. I'm sure it's frustrating for you.

QUESTION: the first due date of jan 17th was done with a ultra sound at what he says was 6 weeks and 1 day but the ultra sound looked like a 8 week 1 day baby not a 6 week.....the second date of jan 6th was done at what they said was 18 weeks and was found to be actually 11 days futher along then the 18 weeks.
AnswerHello,
Well it looks like that 6 week ultrasound would be best for dating purposes; at this age it is considered more accurate than an LMP. Nonetheless, only 5% of babies end up coming on their assigned due date (dates). It frustrates me to see such a wide difference in dates but it looks like your baby will come when good and ready!
