QuestionMy last period began April 21st, but I still took a test on April 26th because I was wondering. That test was negative. This month my period was supposed to begin this week, but hasn't. I took five home pregnancy tests a few days ago, and I'm certainly pregnant. The line showed up quickly and was rather dark, and the only day I would think conception could have taken place since my last period would be May 6th. The tests wouldn't show that strongly after just 2 weeks, would they? Is it possible or probable that I conceived in mid April, but still had my period, and hcg levels were too low to register on the (cheap) test I took the 26th?
AnswerGenerally, home pregnancy tests take roughly 6 weeks to show reliable results, whether positive or negative, depending on their sensitivity. However, the difference between various test is only few days.
The answer is yes probably yo conceived mid April and periods sometimes occur in the first 3 months of pregnancy in some women although lighter than usual.
Good Luck
