QuestionI AM 34 WEEKS PREGNANT. I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING WITH EDEMA QUITE
FREQUENTLY AND POSSIBLY CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME. I HAVE VOICED THESE
CONCERNS TO MY DOCTOR, BUT SHE ISN'T GIVING MUCH OF A RESPONSE. I AM
AFRAID THESE COULD BE SIGNS OF PREECLAMPSIA WHAT DO YOU THINK? AND
SHOULD I CHANGE MY DOCTOR AT THIS POINT?
AnswerDear Earsula
The edema of preeclampsia characteristically affects face and digits. All pregnant women have some kind of edema in their lower limbs which is considered normal. The most important signs for preeclampsia is a rise in your blood pressure over your normal baseline by a certain degree or generally speaking a blood pressure over 140/90. A second important sign is the presence of albumin in your urinewhich is known as albuminuria or sometimes proteinuria.
If you do not have any of these 2 signs and no facial or digital edema, then u do not have preeclampsia.
Good Luck
