Brown Discharge in Late Pregnancy (35 Weeks): Causes & When to Worry
QuestionHi,
I am currently almost 35 weeks pregnant. I have one live birth and one miscarriage (13 weeks). I am 24 years of age.
My question is this. About 6 or 7 weeks (could even be longer now) ago i started getting menstrual like cramps, followed with a brown discharge. I called my Dr and she didnt seem very concerned. I have mentioned it at my last two appointments and again she doesnt seem to concerned. The cramps have been getting worse and so has the discharge. Should i get a second Dr to look at me? I measure out at 36 (today) and baby has strong heart beat.
AnswerDid she run any tests or monitor you and the baby? Cramping accompanied by blood is typically alarming at any stage in pregnancy. Bear in mind that bloody show, which may be pink, red or brown, is fairly normal in the later weeks of pregnancy. Any heavy intercourse may also cause you to bleed and maybe become sore. I would suggest getting a second opinion. Only you know your body best. If you feel that this is not your average pregnancy discomfort, I urge you to follow your gut instinct and get a second opinion.
