QuestionIn the last couple days I have noticed a change in discharge, just a tiny bit at first. First a tiny bit, a little smaller than a pea, of gummy discharge, and then I noticed a little bit of egg white this morning. Today I have a pelvic exam and now tonight I just got a little glob of very stringy slightly colored egg white whitish/mucusish discharge. I would really like some reassurance, or a go ahead to go to er, cause those are my only options. The after hours nurse at our hospital NEVER calls back so without going to er I have no one to talk to until work hours tomorrow, and I don't even know if I shoudl do that yet. Any advise would be so much appreciated!
AnswerDear Brenna,
It sounds like you were wanting an immediate answer to your question and unfortunately this isn't an "immediate answer" web site. Some questioners are confused about this. For future reference for you, this site actually encourages it's Experts to answer within 3-5 days. Personally, I try to answer all of my questions within 48 hours.
As to your discharge, pregnant women typically have an increased amount of vaginal secretions during pregnancy due to the increased hormone levels. As long as the discharge is not yellow or green, which may indicate infection, and as long as there is not active bleeding containing clots or tissue with abdominal cramping, you should not need to be concerned. Increased vaginal secretions is something you will note throughout the pregnancy.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and a Merry Christmas.
Brenda
