Postpartum Bleeding After C-Section: Causes & What to Expect
QuestionMy baby died during inactive labor on Oct.6th...we could not find the heartbeat and rushed to the hospital. My labor had stalled (due I'm sure to my sheer panic) and I did not want to wait for it to start on it's own so we went the route of induction. 36+ hours later and two seperate and very long tries at getting the pitocin to fully dilate me I was told to push. After 2+ hours of pushing I knew nothing was happening and asked for a c-section (I just needed that part of the horror to end) turns out my baby was 10.4 pounds, his head was 14" and his chest15".... I am a small woman 5'2" ... the nicest thing the doctor said was that I could not have gotten him out on my own. It has been a little over three weeks and the bleeding had gone down and started to look a little more brownish rather than bright red... but two days ago I started bleeding again with a vengance. Not enough to fill a pad in an hour, but enough for me to worry. The water in the toilet is red when I pee, and there are thumb sized clots. Is it possible that it is a period? I am trying to find a high-risk pregnancy ob, but I was out of state when this happened and now I am at my parents trying to recover emotionally (we miscarried the first time we got pregnant at 10weeks and this time made it all 40... we thought we were in the clear). This was our first child and we desperately want children so I am afraid to take any chances. please help... thank you
Answerdear sweet weatherly,
i am so sorry for your loss.
i am also sorry that they couldnt evaluate the babies size before putting you thru the induction..you should have went right to c-section with a baby that size and your height.
please call your md about this bleeding. its not your period. but im concerned why it is now again bright red with clots.
make an appointment to be seen, tell them you have bright red bleeding with clots..
i hope this helps, sorry i cant offer more help on this one.
blessings,
