QuestionHi, I'm approximately 9 weeks along with my second pregnancy. Yesterday I started some light bleeding which is more like a brownish discharge. It's not constant and sometimes looks a little more pink. I have had no cramping or pain. I called my Dr and she said it could be implantation and to take it easy until my next appt which is in just a couple days. I was reading that implantation occurs within the first week of fertilization, so could this really be what it is or could it be something else? I'm a little worried!
AnswerHi Kristin,
Congratulations!
Ok I am not a doctor, and I hate to differ with a doctor, but I have to say that if your doctor thinks this is implantation... I dont understand how she could think this. Implantation occurred about 7 weeks ago!
What you have is probably a harmless subchorionic bleed, I had one with this last pregnancy. The brown blood is old blood that came out, that is all. Probably what she meant was that this blood is leftover from implantation. Maybe there was another embryo that tried to implant and never did anything (common actually! This is exactly what happened with me, I was implanted with twin embryos and one grew, she is now almost 3 months old! The other embryo implanted and didnt grow but we believe this is what gave me the bleed.)
Anyway, there is nothing to do about the bleed anyway, other than take it easy, so your doctor gave you the same advice that my doctor gave me. All they do is monitor it, and eventually mine just disapeared like nothing ever happened. So you should be just fine.
good luck! andi
