Understanding PMS Symptoms Without a Period: Causes & What to Expect
Questioni have been experiencing PMS symptoms (mostly sore breasts) for about a week now. this is unusual for me, and i usually only have PMS for 3-4 day prior to the start of my period. i have an irregular cycle (my last cycle was 22 days, and i am currently 26 days into this one) but my PMS has always lasted the same amount of days. i think i ovulated around the 14th/15th (i had clear, stringy discharge and my temperature rose afterwards). i know most get their periods 14 days after ovulation. is this ALWAYS the case?
my doctor and negative HPTs told me i'm not pregnant. i'd also be around 5 months along and i figured my doctor and the tests would pick up on it if i was. so is my period on the way and just delayed? or is this some normal change with PMS? thanks for the help!
AnswerHi Emma,
Periods 14 days after ovulation is just an approximate time, most people have theirs at different times unless they have a perfect 28 day cycle. Because you don't have a 28 day cycle then you won't receive your period 14 days after ovulation. Tests and your doctor would definitely pick up on pregnancy at 5 months if you were. Your period could be on the way and since you have an irregular cycle I'm guessing it's normal for you to have late periods. Sometimes PMS symptoms can change over time, even if you have had the same symptoms for years, they can suddenly change which is nothing to worry about.
