Irregular Bleeding After Last Period: What to Ask Your Doctor

Question
24/no children/ last period started 2-13-05. The symptoms i'm about to list for you don't happen on a monthly basis, and it's not often it will happen (possibly 2 or 3 times a year). I make it to my yearly on time EVERY year and nothing is ever found wrong. I haven't had these symptoms until my last period and i'm due for my yearly next month and perhaps you could give me some recomendations on what i should ask my dr. to do. The first time it happened i went to the emergency room and they couldn't find anything wrong, sent me off to my gyno- who put me on birth control and i was on it for about 2 years. The symptoms stopped but now it's starting again after not having been on bcontrol for 3 years... Something isn't right and no one seems to be able to tell me what it is that's wrong. I think it's something hormonal. Anyhow- these are the symptoms, my period generally starts on the 24th day or the 28th day (pretty large gap sometimes): very sickly palor coloring, freezing cold, extreme pain, diahrea and emesis at the same time, my vision is cloudy, VERY faint and weak, and the scariest of all is that i get a nasty chemical taste in my mouth. I generally wait out all of these symptoms and then i'll be completely fine about 1.5 hrs after it starts and i generally will take a hot bath and it helps a bit. Then the period is totally fine. Something isn't right and i'm tired of it, i dont care to go on birth control cause obviously it would continue to happen again after i was off of it.

Answer
Whatever the problem is, if it is related to the cycle, the treatment is to have no cycles. The easiest way to do this is by taking monophasic birth control pills in a continuoous fashion and have no periods.

You may have to choose: a never ending search for an explanation or just keeping it from happening.
