Bleeding in Early Pregnancy (6 Weeks) with Fetal Heartbeat: What to Do
QuestionI am 6 weeks 2 days pregnant and had bleeding Friday just a little and brown discharge Saturday with no cramping. I called my doc Friday night he told me to stay on bedrest for the weekend, I went to the doc monday and they checked me over and said i might be in the beginning stages of a miscarriage and told me if im not bleeding i can go on with normal activities. Last night I started bleeding bad and having real bad cramping so i called my doctor and i went to the hospital. They did a pelvic exam and a ultrasound and said there is a heartbeat and the baby is fine but wouldn't give me many answers, but they told me i have to stay on bedrest. I have had many miscarriages and am a high risk pregnancy. I'm trying to figure out what might be going on and if there is anything besides bedrest i can do I'm very stressed out and scared i don't really know what to do.
AnswerDear Brandi
If the baby was alive on the last examination, this would be a case of threatened miscarriage. the most important line of treatment is bed rest. No one can predict the outcome as many cases continue their pregnancy safely while others do not.
I wish you best of luck in this pregnancy.
