Understanding hCG Levels in Early Pregnancy: A Discussion

Question
i got my hcg level done on june 23 it was 923 on june 24 it was 1500.. (it is a singleton)..

in your experience, would this indicate more of a 17/18 dpo number.. or a 11/12 dpo...

had two u/s dating me with the edd of 2.27.11..and my 10 weeks one was 2.25.11... thanks so much for your time

Answer
Dear Taraa

Although i am not aware of the abbreviation dpo, this level and its rise on the 23 and 24th of June seems to be normal for an early singleton pregnancy.

hCG cannot be considered an accurate measure to calculate the pregnancy age as its normal range is extremely wide and may reach up to several thousands. Serial ultrasound is definitely more accurate and a reliable method to calculate gestational age.

Good Luck
