Groin and Crotch Pain in Pregnancy: Causes & Relief

Question
I am currently 34 weeks pregnant, and for about the last month I had increasing pain in my groin area.  Two weeks ago I went to my doctors and she explained that it was most likely my pelvis widening and the pressure of the baby weight pushing down that was causing this pain.  Well, in the last few days the pain has moved from my groin, to my crotch area.  Do you think this is the same thing?  Pain from my pelvis?

Answer
In early pregnancy, pain in the groin area is due to stretching of the round ligament (the ligaments that anchor the uterus to the wall of the abodmen). In later pregnancy, groins pain or crotch pain is due to the weight of the baby pushing down, the constriction of the uirinary bladder (being pushed up by the uterus), and the stress on the pubic bones.A warm shower, or a heating pad should help. After the delivery, all will return to normal. Good Luck with your delivery.
