Brown Mucus Postpartum: What to Expect After 15 Weeks

Hello...I had my 2nd baby about 3.5 months ago and have been experiencing  
light brown mucus when I wipe for the past 2 days.  Could this be my cycle
trying to return (have not had a real period yet) or could this indicate
ovulation or even be an early sign of pregnancy?  We have been having
unprotected sex and would like to conceive again.  Just trying to understand
the process.   BTW, I'm exclusively breastfeeding.  Blessings...

Ovulation does not occur with exclusive breastfeeding and therefore pregnancy is unlikely. The delay is your period is not unusual; 15 weeks is not thet long to warrant investigations. However; a brown discharge may indicate that some remnants of conception are still inside the uterus especially if you had previous similar attacks or spotting within this past 15 weeks. Infact this is the most common cause for your complaint.

Pelvic ultrasonography would be the best option to make a clear diagnosis for your condition and the proper line of treatment can be determined which may be medical or may require a D&C.
