Answer
Dear Dana

This is probably a miscarriage. Sometimes pregnancy occurs and at the expected time of menstruation, miscarriage occurs accidentally. Bleeding in this case is usually atypical and is mistaken for a period. This type of pregnancy is known as chemical pregnancy. This is because if a blood test is taken, it will show raised hCG level which is the hormone of pregnancy but at the same time, a sac cannot be visualized by ultrasound. Implantation bleeding occurs earlier than in your case.
If you continue to have this bleeding, examination will be necessary to exclude any organic abnormality.

Good Luck
