Rectal Pain During Period: Possible Causes & Endometriosis

Question
Hi,
I have been having excrucuating rectal pain during my period for about two years now. It goes away after a couple of days but it's almost impossible to sit, have a BM, or even pee without a lot of pain.
Could this be endometriosis.

Answer
This is one of the symptoms of endometriosis. It is definitely worth discussing with your ob/gyn.  For more information on endometriosis go to www.EndometriosisAssn.org.  The Association has a number of books that you might find in your public library (or can purchase through the website).  "The Endometriosis Sourcebook" and "Endometriosis: The Complete Reference for Taking Charge of Your Health" are the most recent and together are very comprehensive.  You do not have to live with this pain!
