Pregnancy Symptoms: Migraines, Nausea & When to See a Doctor
QuestionI'm 23 weeks pregnant and I have had migraines, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and no appetite for over three days. i don't know if its dangerous or normal. I've taken Tylenol but its not helping with the migraine at all, I'm trying to stay hydrated and eating crackers and toast. What do I do? and is anything wrong?
AnswerShould you be experiencing symptoms of a severe headache that persists for more than 24 hours, it is time to see a doctor. Headaches in pregnancy are very concerning for a number of reasons when they are uncontrollable. You may simply be experiencing the headaches as a secondary symptom due to severe dehydration from a viral infection or your headache may be the cause of the other symptoms. Dehydration can lead to preterm labor, so please do all that you can to ensure that you do stay very well hydrated. Either way, it is most definitely a good idea to get this checked out. Should you experience any form of blurred vision, spots in your field of vision, swelling or edema, severe or persistent vomiting or dizziness please seek immediate medical attention. I would advise that you call your OB/GYN as soon as possible to have this examined. I do apologize for the untimely delay and hope that this has been of some assistance to you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
